LBHA 2017 initiative to close N Atlantic Blvd at 23rd St. to vehicular traffic

Post date: Mar 16, 2017 5:38:24 PM

In anticipation of a dramatic increase in vehicle traffic once the Auberge project (two towers, 3 restaurants and a spa), the Lauderdale Beach Homeowners Association Board has decided to pursue closure of the south end of North Atlantic Boulevard at 23rd Street.

The Board believes closure of North Atlantic Blvd at the south end, matching the closure at the north end, will greatly increase pedestrian safety and greatly decrease noise and outside car traffic in our quiet neighborhood. Atlantic Blvd as it is now is a promenade enjoyed by hundreds of walkers, bicyclists and dog walkers each day. Even the new residents of Auberge will love having North Atlantic Blvd as a safe walking promenade . We plan on closing it with beautiful landscaping and signage.

The COST of the project will be entirely funded by the Association. NO ASSESSMENTS or CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE NECESSARY.

We are asking ALL Lauderdale Beach homeowners to sign a petition to the city of Fort Lauderdale to close the street.

Committee members will be canvassing our neighborhood to collect the signatures.

If you have not had a chance to sign the petition, please call Mark Cullen at 206 940-3495 and he will stop your house to get your signature.

If you are away from the area and cannot meet in person an email approval will suffice.

Please reach out to Mark at his email address MarkSCullen@gmail.com and he will send the proper email approval form for you to reply to.

Thank you for your support.
