"Mix It. Curb It." Single-Stream Recycling Cart Program

Post date: May 8, 2012 5:57:13 PM

Big changes are coming to your curb! This summer, the City of Fort Lauderdale is launching Mix It. Curb It., a new program that will make recycling much easier for our neighbors. Soon, hoisting and lugging heavy bins full of recyclables will be a task of the past. Instead, you’ll be able to mix all clean recyclables together into one cart and roll it to the curb. It’s that simple.

As part of the Mix it. Curb it. program, the City will be providing residential recycling customers with new, blue, 65-gallon carts that will hold all clean recyclables. The new recycling carts are similar to those currently used for garbage collection.

The new cart is key to simplifying your recycling routine, as you will no longer have to worry about separating paper from plastic or glass from metal. Nor will you have to search for the right bin or worry about keeping recyclables dry and in the cart, as the cart has a built-in lid.

Recycling cart delivery will begin this summer and distribution will take place over a five-week period. Once you receive your new cart, you may begin using it the very next week.
